The Christmas after Olivia was born, we decided to have a real tree. Going to the tree farm to pick out the perfect one, the smell in the house and the lushness of the pine, it took me back to being a child myself.
This year, there was no chance of the romantic notion of Christmas. Life with a two year old hurricane is far from perfect, so the white Target tree it was! At $69 it was not a huge investment and cheaper than a real tree. Paired with some pink LED lights, tinsel and bead garland from The Reject Shop and some new ‘buy 2 get 30% off’ decorations from Myer. I present the ‘Shiny Disco Ball Tree’
Usually I am super traditional with our decorations but since having a child I figure the fun is letting her
destroy decorate the tree herself. I wanted to put up some super cute photos of her helping with the tree and looking at presents but neither happened. She opened the presents and I had to bribe her with her second Ferrero Rocher of the day to get her to “sit” on the table.
“Olivia. Olivia. OLIVIA! Please babe just SIT on the table so Mummy can get a photo.”
Yep. I am that Mum. Bribery works. Until it doesn’t. You should of seen us at Castle Towers yesterday as we waited 90 minutes to see Santa. Olivia was the most hysterical I have ever seen her because we wouldn’t buy her a fourth exact same ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ dragon. I almost left her at the shops.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”
