Who is Fatherlikesons?
For those that don’t know, my name is Jesse and I run a parenting Instagram called @fatherlikesons, I have a beautiful wife named Nicole and two little cheeky buggars that continually keep me on my toes. Riley is the eldest at 3 and Boston is 8 months old. I met Nicole when she was 15 and I was 16. I turned up to her Birthday party ready to make my move, I had a peroxided Jedi rat’s tail, pink tights, purple hot pants, a Tie-dye singlet that wouldn’t have fit an 11 year old girl and a toy horse called captain oats for her present (OC reference). Her Dad thought I was an idiot-ruff-nut, I thought I was the king and somehow Nicole thought I was worth the shot. We’ve been together ever since – going on 10 years now! In that time we have gone through almost every major hurdle in life, maturity and personal growth together. It definitely hasn’t been easy but it’s been the most rewarding journey of my life.
I suppose that the main message you need to know about me is that I’m passionate about Father’s being hands on parents, Mums getting recognition for the amazing work and sacrifices that they make and me gaining a Channing Tatum 6-pack … Not necessarily in that order 😉 I don’t know how but I seriously think this dad-bod thing isn’t a myth! My wife has had two 10 pound babies and still has a better body then me.
The kind of things you can expect from me is a running update on the stupidity of 3 year olds, the effects of sleep deprivation thanks to an 8 month old brick-head, the daily struggle to find some form of relationship balance with my wife and the honest perspective of a father in this parenting game. I won’t sugar coat it, cover it up or ignore anything that is worth talking about. I think it’s critical that we have these sorts of avenues to help support one another, have an occasional rant and grow together as we continually adapt to our children’s/our needs.
My hobbies include writing music, trying to do magic, helplessly trying to get fit again and locking the bathroom door to enjoy the occasional private toilet break.
What I would love from you! Please write back to me, get involved, ask questions and feel free to let me know when I’m being an idiot. I’ll be your backstage pass into the minds of the average man/dad. Statistically speaking you probably don’t want to know what they’re mostly thinking about but we’ll go there regardless! If there is ever a topic you would like me to cover in one of my blogs please let me know and I’ll be sure to follow it up for you.
Until next time, enjoy yourselves and I’ll be seeing you soon.
