Facebook Guidelines

WELCOME TO THE BARGAIN MUM AUSTRALIA FACEBOOK GROUP!

To ensure things run smoothly, we have a few guidelines in place. If you see any posts that do not adhere to the guidelines, please report it via the ‘Report To Admin’ option (there is a small down arrow to the right of the post). If you’ve had a post removed, it is most likely because it doesn’t adhere to the Group Guidelines below. Please don’t be personally offended.

If you have friends who might be interested in joining, simply click ‘Add Friends to Group’ in the top right corner of the group page.

BE KIND. REWIND.

Both of us have had lots of experience when it comes to forums and closed groups. We actually met online while planning our weddings. So we are well aware of how quickly things can turn from general chat to downright outrageous and hurtful. For that reason we ask you treat people how you want to be treated. Yes. Some topics can be a bit controversial, so when posting or responding to a post, please be respectful of people’s opinions or methods, especially if they differ from yours. Do not be rude, sarcastic, nasty or engage in bullying. Remember that you cannot hear tone over a message. Unless you would make the comment face-to-face, then negativity does not have a place in our online space. We will remove at our discretion any negative or abusive comments, and members who purposely incite disharmony will be removed from the group.

If you witness an event in the ‘real world’ that is concerning, rather than posting your shock/dismay to the Facebook group, we encourage you to first report it to the proper authorities to deal with (for example, security guards, police). Any ‘mummy shaming’ posts will be closely monitored, and admin reserve the right to remove them.

OVERSHARE WITH US. NOT ANYONE ELSE.

Bargain Mum Australia is a supportive and closed community where members post personal and intimate information. We have seen incidents of people’s personal information being screenshot and sent around for others to see. It is devastating and destructive. If it is determined that members are using information gleaned from the Facebook group
to poke fun at other members, or damage the name of the group in
general (be it on Facebook, in another group or a blog/website), they will
be removed. Members should respect
the privacy of the members and the group.

NO BUSINESS POSTS OUTSIDE ALLOCATED TIMES

As you all know, Bargain Mum Australia is a huge supported of small businesses. We know that it can be tough to get started so every Saturday will be Small Business Saturday. You will be able to spruik your business by sharing products, links and promos. We will also be on the look out for new business to promote on our Instagram Small Business Saturday posts. If you would like to be added to our roll, please mention it in your comments.

Want to suggest yourself as a supplier for a product or service? If a member asks for a recommendation for a specific product or service that you are in the business of selling, you are welcome to suggest yourself if relevant in response to the question. However, this must only be done to current topics in the group (posts that have been active in the last 24 hours). Members who ‘search’ for older posts and start spamming the group in response to older questions will be removed.

In the interest of recommendations being trustworthy, when suggesting a business in response to a question, you must be upfront about your connection to the business – for example if it is your own business or if you are family or friend of the business.

Additionally, if we are informed that any member receives financial compensation for making a recommendation, we will remove them without warning.

Want to recommend a local business to the group? If you’ve had an incredible experience with a local business, and want to give them an endorsement or recommendation to the group, you are welcome to do so during Bargain Hour (every Tuesday night between, 8-10pm). We contain it to these hours, as it is not possible for admin to verify whether it is a genuine, unprompted recommendation from a new client, or someone who is affiliated with the business and looking to promote themselves.

Members who work for Multi-Level Marketing companies (such as Isagenix, Arbonne, Herbalife, Avon etc) are not permitted to promote or sell their products or company in response to posts. They can identify themselves as representatives of those companies and invite interested members to PM them (for example, ‘I sell Isagenix, feel free to PM me for more information’ or ‘I sell skincare products for Arbonne, if you want to know more about selling this product, please PM me’, but any active promotion of products is not permitted.

Discreet business posts will be removed without explanation. This includes posting photos of something you are proud of but are in the business of selling, it includes thank you to those that use your product or service and it may include asking people’s opinions about something you sell.

Business ‘baiting’ or research posts are not allowed – such as questions about how to market your business, how much you should charge for your services, whether people would be interested in XX service. If you have a genuine question about running a business and want to connect with like-minded business mums, join the Mums With Hustle Biz Group (tell Tracy we sent you!)

If you run a blog or website, you are not permitted to share links or copy and paste excerpts from articles in the group. All bloggers are very welcome to post a free ad during Bargain Hour.

DO NOT POST NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT LOCAL BUSINESSES OR COMPANIES

If you’ve had a bad experience, it can be tempting to get ‘revenge’ with a negative post – however this can have terrible consequences for the business. Instead, contact the company directly to let them know about your issues. Bargain Mum Australia will not be held accountable for any such comments made by members. Please read the Fact Sheet about Defamation on Social Media.

DO NOT SEND UNSOLICITED MESSAGES TO MEMBERS

Members are not allowed to send unsolicited private messages to members of Bargain Mum Australia about their business. Members who directly SPAM people will be removed from the group without warning. If you receive unsolicited messages, please alert admin ASAP.

REMEMBER THAT WE ARE NOT TRAINED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

If you post a medical question to the group, please be mindful that the responses given are based on other people’s personal experiences. Whilst it is helpful to get lots of opinions and suggestions, please note that it should never replace speaking to a doctor or healthcare professional. If you feel like you have a real medical emergency or serious situation on your hands, please don’t post in the group. We would prefer to hear about your experience after it is sorted and not on live feed .
